In 2011, Tony Johnson co-founded the Academic Internship Council with Dr. Aden Hayes.
In 2017 Tony celebrated his 33nd anniversary in the field of international study and internships, having founded and directed the London Internship Program in 1984, which became the Boston University London Program in 1987. Over the years, he has personally placed more than 9,000 university students in professional practice internships in London. With nearly three decades of internship placement experience, he has worked with hundreds of businesses spanning all industry sectors.
Tony’s diverse background includes co-founding Practicum Europa (an organization focused on intra-European internship placements), working in England's Conservative Party and serving as a trainer in Poland for the National Democratic Institute of Washington, D.C. He is also a published sportswriter. Tony was educated at Haileybury College and Thames Valley University and holds C&UPCA Certificates in Electoral Law.
Tony has also chaired the Global Internship Conference since its rebranding and launch in 2012.
