Dr. Reginald Kerolle earned his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic and also studied hospital management at the graduate school of Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago. Reginald has collaborated with CIEE Santiago since 2009. From 2014 to 2015 he worked as a medical program coordinator in the north of the Dominican Republic for Timmy Global Health, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges. Dr. Kerolle’s experience working in underserved communities such as the “bateys” (villages surrounding a sugar mill) and remote rural communities in both the Dominican Republic and Haiti inspired his interest in conducting research on public health and community development issues. His research has been on topics including human security, sustainability, maternal and child heath, and water and food security. His fieldwork experience and deep knowledge of the Dominican culture and health care system allow him to provide students with a deeper insight and understanding of the challenging issues and social determinants of health in a developing country like the Dominican Republic.
