Learn moreNatalia Chernyaeva holds a “kandidat nauk” degree in Philosophy from the Ural State University and a PhD in Women’s Studies from the University of Iowa. Before joining the CIEE team in the fall of 2016, she worked at the Ural Federal University, where she taught graduate-level courses in Gender anthropology and Political philosophy and managed an MA program in Political philosophy, taught in English. At CIEE, Natalia is involved in developing and strengthening the academic curriculum and serving the link between CIEE students and Saint Petersburg State University faculty. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of Gender studies, Russian area studies and Feminist anthropology. Her current publications focus on the politics of gender and family in Soviet and post-Soviet Russia. In her free time, Natalia enjoys traveling, contemporary art and films.
