Larry Schall, Ed.D., J.D.
Lawrence M. Schall was named the 16th president of Oglethorpe University in June of 2005. Under Larry’s leadership, the university has entered a new era of growth and innovation evidenced by a dramatic rise in enrollment, philanthropic giving, and new strategic entrepreneurial partnerships. Fueled by a focus on linking academics to service, professional work experiences, and global awareness, the campus’ footprint has also expanded greatly.
Larry began his professional career in Philadelphia as a trial attorney, specializing in civil rights litigation. After leaving the law, he served as vice president of administration at Swarthmore College and director of the Executive Doctorate Program in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania. Larry currently serves as chair of the board of the East Lake Foundation, chair of the DeKalb County Board of Ethics, and trustee emeritus at The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia.
Larry holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Swarthmore College.
