CedarBough Saeji is a scholar of contemporary Korean culture. She is fascinated by the powerful imagery in Korean performance — whether of Korea's fascinating traditional mask dance dramas or slick K-pop videos. She earned an MA in Korean Studies from Yonsei University, and a PhD in Culture and Performance from UCLA. Her scholarly work on topics as diverse as college students learning traditional drumming, women performing dramas once performed only by men, the sexual objectification of women on live music television shows, the curation of Korean Buddhist art at the National Museum of Korea, and racialization in K-pop videos has been published in numerous academic journals, edited volumes, and encyclopedias.
