Arwen has worked on sustainable infrastructure solutions and urban development for a German federal ministry, a two-person start-up, and as a university instructor. Her Ph.D. research focuses on community energy and identity. She studied international energy and environmental politics in Germany, Japan, and the U.S., graduating with honors. After working for the Environmental Policy Research Center Berlin and the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, she became a Senior Manager with a Berlin-based startup, designing infrastructure solutions for the smart grid integration of electric vehicles and renewable energies. Arwen comes from a family of musicians, but didn’t follow them to the stage. Instead, she is the co-founder of an energy cooperative, BürgerEnergie Berlin, but in an alternate universe she sings opera.
