Biography

Antonio Grau Sempere earned his Ph.D. in Ibero-Romance Philology and Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds an M.A. in Spanish from the University of New Mexico. Originally from Santa Pola (a small town near Alicante), he has over ten years of experience teaching language, culture and linguistics courses in the U.S. at the University of Evansville and Fairfield University. Antonio speaks several languages and has published articles and a book chapter on the sound system of Ibero-Romance languages (Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese) and the assessment of U.S college foreign language programs. He has taught a variety of language, culture and literature classes since he joined CIEE in 2013. Antonio is the Lead Instructor and the Program Coordinator for the High School Summer Abroad Language & Culture Program in Alicante.
