CIEE SECURITY ALERT - TOKYO, JAPAN

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake occured off the coast of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, at around 19:03, May 26. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake. Light-to-moderate aftershocks are likely over the coming days. The event has not prompted any tsunami advisories.

CIEE is currently messaging all students to confirm the status of their safety. At this time, we have no reports that any CIEE Tokyo participants have been impacted by this incident.  As this is a developing situation, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain in contact with our participants to ensure their ongoing safety.
