CIEE SECURITY ALERT - SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Authorities are continuing their response to a major building fire on Randle Street near Central Station in Sydney as of evening May 25. Reports indicate that the blaze is spreading to other buildings and has destroyed at least one vehicle. Around 100 emergency personnel and 20 fire trucks are attempting to bring the fire under control. Authorities have reportedly evacuated hundreds of people from the area but have not yet released information concerning casualties. The cause of the fire remains unclear. Officials have advised people to avoid the area as firefighting operations continue.

Heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions are likely over the coming hours as emergency response and investigations continue.
