CIEE Security Alert – Madrid, Spain

Emergency services are responding to a building explosion in the Salamanca area of Madrid on May 6. Authorities state the cause of the explosion was a suspected gas leak. The incident occurred in a building at the intersection of Calle General Pardinas and Calle de Ayala at around 13:30, resulting in at least 17 injuries. Emergency crews remain on the scene.

No CIEE Madrid participants were directly impacted by this event and all remain accounted for and safe.
