CIEE Celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth is an American holiday commemorating the date that the last enslaved people in United States were emancipated. On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, general Gordon Granger read federal orders announcing that the Civil War had ended and the enslaved in Texas were now free. In honor of Juneteenth, we’re amplifying the voices of 19 Black leaders and Black-led organizations that are doing amazing things in the fields of education, travel, and cultural exchange.
