Testimonials

Diyan NAME: Diyan
Country: Bulgaria
Season: Summer 2009

It all began as a joke - my best friend came to me and said: "Hey, do you want both of us to go to the States this summer. Don't you think it will be fun?” Finally, we got on the plane. I have never flown before and believe me, the feeling was great. My favorite part is the take off. You feel a lot lighter and when you see the tops of the clouds - the only thing you can say is "WOW" - it is magnificent! We got into the states - first in Boston, MA, then we got a bus to Bangor, ME. From there we got a shuttle to our final destination - Northeast Harbor. It is a little coastal resort town where people are always smiling and everybody knows everybody.

The most exciting thing about it was the nature - the whole state of Maine is awesomely beautiful! Plus, our housing was on the beach, so it is a great pleasure to wake up in the morning from the clean, salty ocean air, make yourself a cup of coffee and sit on the deck to watch the horizon while waking up.

Our workplace was a big tennis and swim club. So the first month we did our best to fix it up. In the beginning of June the restaurant near the swimming pool opened and we started working there. I have never before worked in a restaurant, but I really enjoyed the job.

Day by day, the summer came to an end and after a lots of "Goodbye" and "See ya" I got on the bus to New York. I was there for two whole days and it was a good way to end my program. While in NY, I realized that I'll miss all the people I met and the American way of living. The plane home was the worst part - I felt like I lost myself and I missed everything. But, on the other side I was happy to go back home and to see my family, my girlfriend (which is now my fiancee) and my friends.

If you ask me if I want to go back - I'll say a big "YEAH!". It was a great experience, which I owe to my agent and CIEE. Thank you, guys! You did a great job!
