CIEE - New Host Organizations - Next Steps

The DS-7002, or Training/Internship Placement Plan

The first step for any new Host Organizations is to complete Form DS-7002, or the Training/Internship Placement Plan. The DS-7002 is a writable document that outlines the proposed internship/training program, and that the supervisor will need to sign, date and send directly to the potential intern/trainee once complete.

The primary purpose of the DS-7002 is to demonstrate that the intern/trainee will be under continuous supervision throughout the course of his or her training, and will progress through various stages of development that are not duplicative of prior work experience. Additionally, the DS-7002 serves as an agreement between the Host Organization and the intern/trainee about the kind of tasks and objectives that will be completed during the program.

Different versions of the DS-7002 exist for Interns and Trainees. You should also be aware that a distinct set of regulations surround Hospitality and Agricultural positions, regardless of program category. Use the provided link(s) to determine which of the forms you need to fill out. When you’re ready, get started by downloading the DS-7002 from that particular section.

Please note: The DS-7002 will be reviewed by CIEE, as well as by a US Consular Officer during the applicant’s mandatory visa interview. For this reason, it is essential that you take the time to carefully consider the training program you intend to provide.
