Appropriate Training
The J-1 Intern/Trainee visa category is designed to provide qualified candidates with the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience while living in the US. A Host Organization, however, can only host those interns or trainees with prior educational and/or professional experience in their field. Upon completing a training program in the US, interns and trainees should have gained additional skills in their profession that can help further their careers in their home country.
Simply put, there must be a match between an applicant’s background and their potential field of training. The applicant’s background and stated career goals must correlate to your internship/training program as outlined on the Training/Internship Placement Plan.
