Part of the J-1 visa category of the US government's Exchange Visitor Program, the Trainee Program offers international students and young professionals from around the world the unique opportunity to gain valuable practical training experience in the US for up to 18 months. As a participant in this program, you will learn useful American methodologies and professional techniques, and help your Host Company internationalize and diversify their workplace.

This website is designed to help CIEE sponsored Trainees deal with many of the issues that arise prior to and during their programs. Whether you have already begun your training program, or have just received your J-1 Visa and are awaiting your program start date, you should find this site quite helpful. Most of this information can also be found in the Trainee Program handbook, which you should have received from the CIEE representative in your home country. If you do not have a copy of this handbook, it can be downloaded from the Resources section of this site.
