Host Company Responsibilities By choosing to host an international Trainee, your company will be responsible for the following: Satisfy the Training Plan you have developed Your primary responsibility, as a Host Company, is to help your Trainee develop the professional skills outlined in their Training Plan. It is imperative that the training noted on the proposal is the actual training that takes place on a daily basis. If you plan to deviate in a major way from your approved training plan, please contact CIEE at 1-888-268-6245. A CIEE Support Representative will work with you to modify the Training plan accordingly. Asking a CIEE sponsored Trainee to participate in activities that are far from those outlined in their Training Plan may result in the withdrawal of their program sponsorship, and jeopardize your ability to host Trainees in the future. Complete a Mandatory Program Evaluation At the midpoint and end of the program, CIEE will e-mail evaluation instructions directly to the Trainee.* It is the Trainee’s responsibility to notify and follow-up directly with their immediate supervisor. However, it is the Host Company’s responsibility to ensure the evaluation is completed within 10 business days. Any questions about the evaluation process may be directed to CIEE's evaluation administrator at evaluations@councilexchanges.org. *If your company is hosting a Trainee for three months or less, you will not be required to complete a midpoint program evaluation. Withholding Taxes from your Trainee If you are planning to compensate your Trainee, your company will be responsible for withholding the proper local, federal and state taxes from their paycheck. To view the Host Company Tax Resource Guide, click here. It is very important that you assign your Trainee the proper tax status, and educate them on how to file their US tax return. If your Trainee fails to file their US tax return properly, they may become ineligible to return to the US on a new visa after their program ends at your company. |
