Locate a CIEE Representative

You must contact a CIEE representative in your home country to begin the process of applying for the CIEE Trainee Program. CIEE representatives play an important role in this process, providing you with all relevant application and pre-departure materials, and assisting and liaising with you throughout the application process. Additionally, they will also advise you on the process for booking and conducting an interview for your J-1 Visa at the local US Embassy or Consulate once you have been accepted to the program. Finally, they are a great source for information for basic program and travel questions prior to your departure to the United States.

No CIEE representative in your country?

You may find that there is no designated CIEE representative in your home country. If this is the case, the instructions outlined below should be helpful.

If there is no CIEE representative in your home country, you can apply to the Trainee Program directly with CIEE . Simply fill out the CIEE General Program Inquiry Form, and identify yourself as a potential Trainee from a country that has no local CIEE representative.

Once you have submitted this inquiry, a CIEE staff person will provide you with all relevant application materials and instructions on the application process. If you do not have a valid email address or would like to receive more information by postal mail, please call 1-888-268-6245.

Please also be advised that it may be possible for you to apply for this program in different countries. For instance, if you currently maintain valid student or resident status in a country other than your country of citizenship, you may be able to apply in that country as well as in your country of citizenship.
