Upon review of your complete application an acceptance decision will be made by CIEE. In some cases, a phone interview may be necessary. Acceptance by CIEE does not guarantee you a placement in South Korea.
Applicants accepted to the program will be notified by e-mail. You’ll be assigned to a CIEE representative who will share program information via your My CIEE account. S/he will be there to answer all your questions regarding timelines, program dates, cultural queries, and more.
Upon acceptance to the program it is necessary to submit a non-refundable* commitment deposit of $1200 within 10 days of the acceptance notification email date. When your commitment deposit is received, negotiations will begin with the Korean host institution.
Upon acceptance by CIEE, your portfolio will then be passed on to our Korean partner school for them to review your candidacy. The Korean school will schedule a phone interview before making a final decision.
After your Korean contract has been confirmed, your placement confirmations must be received by CIEE within 10 days of offer. Confirmation is made by remitting the balance of the program fee.
To finish the visa process in Korea, a health examination is required. The examination will include x-rays and blood tests (HIV, hepatitis). This is in addition to the medical examination in the US that CIEE requires. There are no exceptions or alternatives to the examination, please make certain you are comfortable with this before you apply.
*In the case of failure to place a candidate with the Korean partner school, this deposit will be refunded.
