The Chilean academic year is divided into two semesters. The first begins in early March and ends mid-July. After a two week winter break, the second semester begins during the first weeks of August and ends mid-December. Students are on summer vacation from December to late February. There isn’t an official fall or spring break, but some schools may take a week’s vacation to celebrate Chilean Independence on September 18th.
The CIEE program is for the full academic year and begins in late February with orientation in Santiago.
