CIEE - What will your story be? CIEE Study Center Seville

Summer Language and Culture Program

Summer is a wonderful time to be in Sevilla! If you are in search of a language immersion experience in Spain and a chance to learn more about Spanish culture, then this program is perfect for you. If your interests are in the field of politics and economics, or history, culture or literature, and you are looking for a productive summer study abroad experience in a Spanish setting, then this program has the options you need.

The romantic city of Seville, the capital of Andalusia,
was one of the last footholds of the great Moorish empire that ruled the Iberian Peninsula. For a city of fewer than 800,000 people, Seville offers an amazing choice of cultural activities, from flamenco theaters to classical, pop, and jazz concerts. Life is lived in the outdoor cafés, tapas bars, and the vast array of restaurants throughout the city

The CIEE Study Center in Seville is in a beautifully renovated Sevillano palace built in 1725. Housed at the
CIEE Study Center are the offices of student services, the CIEE Language Coordinator, and CIEE administration. CIEE professors have an office where students may speak with them privately about issues related to their progress in class.                                                                                      CIEE Study Center

The Spanish Language and Culture program
focuses on two interwoven areas: Spanish language and Spanish culture and history. Special emphasis is placed on Andalusia and its capital Seville, within a European context. Students may participate in one three-week session starting in May, one three- week session starting in early June, or one three-week session starting in late June, or any combination thereof. Students may stay for one, two, or three sessions. Students take one course during each session. Some content classes are offered in English and some in Spanish.

             Daytrip to Ronda

Local excursions and an overnight trip are included in the academic calendar. This hands-on learning experience contributes greatly to the student’s experience abroad. Instruction is interactive and dynamic.

Overnight to Extremadura (Mérida)

Many lectures take place in situ so that the student can feel a part of the fascinating past they are studying. While extracurricular activities and personal travel contribute greatly to the student’s overall European experience, attendance is mandatory for both classes and required events.
