Reimagine the Rainbow Nation – CIEE students attend a lecture given by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu
CIEE Stellenbosch students got a rare opportunity to hear one of South Africa’s most renowned figures when they attended the 6th annual Beyers Naudé Memorial Lecture given by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Tutu, who coined the term “Rainbow Nation” in the early years of South Africa’s democracy spoke on the topic of

“Reimagining the Rainbow Nation” in light of the continued social and economic challenges that face South African society. The lecture offered an opportunity to further explore issues of transformation through the thoughts of this celebrated Nobel laureate.
