Several CIEE Brussels students and I traveled to Amsterdam for the weekend. Our hostel was in the center of the redlight district and as so as we unpacked, we went for a walk, checking things out, diving for the sidewalk at the sound of bike bells. When I saw the swans swimming in the canal, I couldn't believe it. I stopped and stared at the birds, gliding around in the neon-stained water. It felt like the chaos around me stood still for a moment. We continuned on, but this image truly exemplified my amzaing experience in Amsterdam. The old-world beauty mixed with new-age consumption created a truly unique atmosphere that I will never forget.
