"Namibian Sunrise "

This photograph was taken around 6:00am one day during a week-long trip to Namibia. In the minutes before sunrise, my friends and I climbed the dune in what was almost complete darkness. As soon as the sun cracked the horizon, the colors became overwhelming. I had climbed a bit higher on the dune than my friends, so I sat alone as I took in the splendor of my surroundings. Never before had I known that the desert could be so beautiful. One of my friends (CIEE Cape Town student Megan Calpin) snapped this incredible picture that is my favorite from my time abroad.
