Visit a CIEE Study Center
Visiting a CIEE Study Center is the best way to learn about the location, meet on-site CIEE staff and faculty, and speak with students about their experience abroad with CIEE. In 2012, CIEE is planning to offer the following site visits.
2012 Group Site Visits
Each Study Center group site visit lasts approximately seven to ten days and is designed for you to gain first-hand knowledge about the on-site facilities, meet with faculty, resident staff, and participants, and acquire a better understanding of the culture in which the programs operate. Schedules include visits to the host institution at which the program is based, class attendance, visits to homestays and/or dormitories, participation in student excursions, and adequate time to meet with CIEE resident staff and students, providing participants with an in-depth view of each program.

Special note about trip extension to Haiti:
Join CIEE in Haiti for a rare opportunity to know a country of rich culture and contrasts, and to understand the profound and complex influence that Haiti and the Dominican Republic wield upon one another as they tenuously cohabit the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (varyingly known locally as the island of Quisqueya, Santo Domingo, or Haiti). Witness both devastation and development on the heels of natural disaster. Explore how a country with the lowest literacy rate and per capita income can also boast the lowest crime rate in the region. Witness a surge in artistic and reconstructive creativity borne of a mix of poverty, scarcity, and opportunity. Your visit to sites in and around Port au Prince will be at the invitation of CIEE and the Dominican ambassador to Haiti, providing rare and special access to people, places, institutions and perspectives which – in combination with your visit to the Dominican side of the island - will uniquely highlight the country’s economic challenges, political polemics, artistic ascendance, and vast educational possibilities.
Group Site Visit Registration Deadlines and Visa Processing
Due to the increased popularity of CIEE’s Group Site Visits and CIEE’s need to ensure that attendees are getting the visit that is best suited to their needs, persons wishing to attend a CIEE Group Site Visits will now be asked to submit an application. CIEE will review Group Site Visit applications and accept attendees based on a set group of criteria. The Group Site Visit leader will notify participants of their acceptance in time for visas, flights, and arrangements to be made. In some cases, if a Site Visit has closed, applicants will be offered the option of attending the visit at full cost.
The 2012 Group Site visit registration fee is $500 for CIEE and Academic Consortium members ($750 for non-members). The registration fee includes a single room at a local hotel, all meals during the site visit, and all intra-country transportation.
