Academic Consortium Board (ACB)
The Academic Consortium Board (ACB) is the official governing body of the Consortium and is charged with providing quality review and direction for all CIEE study abroad programs. The ACB consists of 11 members and one ex-officio members with voting privileges.
The mission of the ACB is to ensure that CIEE provides, on behalf of the Academic Consortium, distinctive international academic programs of high quality.
In November 2012, the Board and CIEE will welcome Mary Dando from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Lisa Donatelli from Georgetown University, and Woody Pelton from Elon University.

Biography
Kendall Brostuen is Director of the Office of International Programs and Associate Dean at Brown University. He has previously served as Central College’s Resident Director in Granada, Spain, and as Dean of the Institute for International Studies at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Kendall sits on the editorial board of Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal for Study Abroad and is on the Forum on Education Abroad’s National Review Panel. He received his master’s degree in international relations.

Biography
Mary Dando was appointed Director of Study Abroad Programs at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2007 after serving as Program Manager for 10 years. Previously, she moved her way up from Study Abroad Advisor to Acting Director of the Office of Study Abroad at the University of Kentucky. Mary is active in NAFSA, coauthoring the NAFSA Visas in Education Abroad brochure and serving in various other capacities. She holds master’s degrees in history and English.

Biography
As Deputy Director/Director of Global Strategies in the Office of International Programs (OIP) at Georgetown University,
Lisa Donatelli works with campus leaders and international partners on strategic international initiatives to enhance Georgetown’s global presence, among many other duties related to international education. She also currently serves on the Forum on Education Abroad’s Strategic Alliances, Infrastructure and Resources Working Group. Lisa holds a master’s degree in education and human development (international education), and an education specialist degree in human and organizational learning.

Biography
Kathleen Fairfax is the Assistant Vice President for International Affairs and Outreach at South Dakota State University.
Previously, Kathleen served as Vice Provost for Global Education at Arizona State University directed the study abroad programs at Michigan State University, Purdue University, Southwestern University, and DePauw University and served as a Foreign Service Officer. Kathleen holds a master’s degree in political science and international relations.

Biography
Robert Fallon is President and CEO of Phosplatin Therapeutics and Adjunct Professor in finance and economics at Columbia Business School. He serves on the advisory board for the Korea Economic Institute, as trustee of the Ohio University Foundation, as a professional fellow of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia University, and as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Robert is a graduate of Ohio University and Harvard Business School.

Biography
Joël Gallegos is currently the Assistant Provost for International Programs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Previously, he served as the Director of Education Abroad at UNC Charlotte, as Director of Study Abroad at the University of Toledo, and as project director on a number of grants, including a FIPSE on the African Diaspora. He has also taught courses in international communications and French language and is active in NAFSA, EAIE, and AIEA. Joël received his master’s degree in French literature.

Biography
As Associate Dean of International Programs and Director of Programs for Study Abroad at Purdue University, Brian Harley is responsible for administering more than 200 study abroad programs in 50 countries. He is active in many professional international education organizations including NAFSA, AIEA, IIE, and the Forum on Education Abroad. Brian previously served as Chief Academic Officer and Director of the Program division at Brethren Colleges Abroad. He holds a doctorate in sociology.

Biography
Cheryl Matherly is Vice Provost for Global Education and Applied Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Tulsa, where she directs the institution’s international study, work, and volunteer programs. She also currently directs the Nano Japan program, which expands international research opportunities for science and engineering majors, and is active in NAFSA as co-chair of the Work, Internship, and Volunteer Abroad Committee. Cheryl holds a doctorate in educational leadership and cultural studies.

Biography
Ronald Méndez-Clark, Ronald Mendez-Clark, a native of Puerto Rico, organized Fordham University’s Office of International and Study Abroad Programs (ISAP) in 2000 and is in his ninth year as ISAP’s director. Ronald previously served as Associate Chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, as Director of the Latin American and Latino Studies Institute, and as a Spanish language instructor. Ronald holds a doctorate in romance languages and literature from Princeton University.

Biography
Woody Pelton is Dean of International Programs at Elon University, responsible for directing the Isabella Cannon International Centre, which supervises inbound international students, faculty, and scholars, outbound education abroad, and international programming on campus. Previously Woody served as Director of the International Center at Winthrop University and Special Assistant to the President for International Programs at Saginaw Valley State University. He has also served as an Education Advisor for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco.

Biography
As Associate Dean of Studies and Director of Programs for International Study at Oberlin College, Ellen Sayles oversees traditional study away semester and year-long programs, oversees the development of new short-term international programs, and coordinates the college’s efforts on internationalization. In addition to her professional and personal interests in global education, Ellen serves on the board of the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestras. She holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan.
