The Wishing Wall

"The Wishing Wall" formed part of the "Infecting the City" Arts Festival that we attended on Friday 19 February. The Wall, a concept by artists Landi Raubenheimer and Paul Cooper, is a snapshot of hopes, dreams, rants, and secret wishes of its anonymous urban participants.

Kenneth Okoth
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Tanzania is a beautiful country. For the CIEE program, we try to do a few strategic trips away from Dar es Salaam to introduce students to the diversity of this country—its natural beauty and warm people. In January, we enjoyed a trip to the island of Zanzibar. In this photo, my CIEE students and I join local women in Paje Village to learn about the cultivation and harvesting of seaweed as a cash crop. The seaweed from Zanzibar is used in the production of high-end cosmetics (mostly exported to France and Switzerland) and some is exported to countries like Japan where it is considered a delicacy too!

A Memorable Experience Abroad

CIEE alum and Miami University student Prescott Nicholson writes about his experience studying abroad with CIEE. Prescott studied abroad with CIEE for the spring 2009 semester on the Business, Language, and Culture program in Shanghai, China.

After going to Miami's Study Abroad Fair, reading many brochures, and consulting with Study Abroad Advisors, I ultimately decided on the Council on International Educational Exchange's (or CIEE) program in Shanghai, China.
