Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a medium sized ski area about 40 miles south west of South Lake Tahoe. We are a year-round resort but our busiest time is during the winter months when we are open for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, cross country skiing, and ice-skating. We are known as a resort that has one of the deepest snow packs in North America with some of the most awesome advanced skiing and riding. We are also known for our great beginner area and spectacular scenery.

We have around 850 employees during the winter many of whom travel from overseas to work at the resort. There are five food and beverage outlets ranging from the Outback Grill for burgers and fries, to the Wall Bar for fine dining and incredible slope-side cocktails. 15 lifts access our terrain and we pride ourselves on the skill of our groomers and grooming fleet to bring the best conditions from the top of our 10,000 foot mountains to the bottom.

Kirkwood was founded in 1972 and has grown amazingly over the past 35 years to become an alpine community with both part-time and full-time residents. We generate our own power, have our own water supply, and are one of the few truly independent mountain resorts in North America.
