CIEE Annual Conference in Toronto, Canada
It’s hard to believe that almost a month has passed since the CIEE conference in Toronto. We hope you enjoyed your time there and found the sessions, pre-conference workshops, and plenaries engaging and relevant. Please click here to read the full conference evaluation and here to read the session presentations we have received thus far. Additional presentations will be added to the website as we receive them.
Propose a Session for Nashville, Tennessee, November 2008
Consider proposing a session for next year’s CIEE conference: Setting the Stage: Managing Growth in Study Abroad. We are all excited and challenged by the steady increase in enrollments over the last decade, and we have recognized that we must develop programs and instructional models that can accommodate increasing numbers of students without creating expatriate enclaves overseas. What about the management tests that will arise? What adjustments can be made to handle that growth programmatically but also administratively?
Download the full Call for Proposals. The deadline for session proposals is February 1, 2008. Pleas e-mail conference2008@ciee.org with any questions.

Summer/Fall 2008 Bulletin

The Bulletin, in addition to the catalogs, constitutes CIEE study abroad offerings for summer and fall 2008. New UK Visa Requirements
Effective December 3, 2007, all UK student visa applications will require biometric information as part of the visa application process. Biometric information includes 10-finger scans and a digital photograph.
Please note that biometric scans are only necessary for students applying for a student visa. Students who will be in the UK for less than 6 months, and who are not applying for an internship, do not need a student visa; they apply for a Student Visitor Entry Clearance at the airport. For more information, please click here.
Passport Update
According to the U.S. State Department, routine processing for passports may take as long as six to eight weeks. This is due to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, a law requiring airline passengers entering the U.S. from within the Western Hemisphere to possess a valid passport.
Students should have their passports available for use two weeks after applying for study abroad in order to begin the visa application process. CIEE strongly recommends that they expedite their passport application. Please remember that passports must be valid for at least six months after the end date of their program.
