Summer 2009, Fall 2009, and Academic Year 2009-10 CIEE Study Center fees are now available on the CIEE website. Please click here and choose the fee sheet you would like to download. Cost breakdowns are also posted, on each individual program page, or as a comprehensive PDF here.

Summer/Fall 2009 Bulletin
The Summer/Fall 2009 Bulletin, an update to the CIEE Study Center catalogs, is now available for download in our Publications Center.

The Bulletin outlines changes to summer and fall 2009 CIEE Study Center programs since the publication of the 2009 Study Center catalogs. The Bulletin, in addition to the catalogs, constitutes CIEE study abroad offerings for summer and fall 2009. The individual program descriptions on the website have been updated to reflect the changes outlined in the Bulletin.

New 2009 Programs

  • Amman, Jordan – Arabic Language: Summer
  • Guanajuato, Mexico – Liberal Arts: Semester/Academic Year
  • Istanbul, Turkey – Language and Culture: Semester/Academic Year

Amman, Jordan – Arabic Language: Summer
CIEE is excited to offer a new summer Arabic language program, opening in summer 2009 in Amman. This new option provides students with a rigorous intensive language program for those with 0-3 semesters of college-level Arabic.

Guanajuato, Mexico – Liberal Arts: Semester/Academic Year
The new Liberal Arts program at the Universidad de Guanajuato, opening fall 2009, is designed for advanced Spanish-speaking students (minimum of four semesters of college-level Spanish) who are looking for a serious academic experience studying alongside local university students. This program is perfect for students looking for an intimate setting that allows them to connect university-based learning with daily life in contemporary Mexico and an intense cultural learning experience. This new program will replace the current Liberal Arts and Language and Culture programs, which will no longer be available after the spring of 2009.

Istanbul, Turkey – Language and Culture: Semester/Academic Year
CIEE is excited to announce the relocation of the CIEE Study Center in Ankara, Turkey to Koç University in Istanbul as of fall 2009. The Language and Culture program enables students to pursue a wide variety of academic fields through direct enrollment at Koç University, and gain a deeper understanding of Turkey as a society undergoing rapid urbanization and social transformation.

Annual Conference Call for Proposals – Istanbul, Turkey

CIEE is now accepting session proposals for the 2009 CIEE Annual Conference, “Cultivating Culture: Local Foundations, Global Perspectives,” which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey from November 11-14, 2009. Proposals must be received at CIEE by February 1, 2009.

At this year’s conference, we seek to explore the role of local culture in today’s study abroad experience and examine how specific academic and cultural experiences contribute to the development of global citizens. We hope that you can bring your local and global perspectives on international education issues to Istanbul.

For more information on the conference and how to submit a proposal, click here.
