New Study Center Programs
CIEE is pleased to announce four new CIEE Study Center programs for 2005.
All four represent strong additions to our diverse offerings for students. While the programs in Barcelona and Dublin enhance an already strong presence in these locations, the program in Bonaire is new both in terms of location and focus. Please read on for brief descriptions of the new offerings.
CIEE Tropical Marine Biology Summer Program, Bonaire, Southern Caribbean
The CIEE Tropical Marine Biology program in Bonaire is an intensive two-week field course which integrates lecture, field experience, student group work, and readings. Emphasis is placed on hands-on field observation of ecological processes, both on land and underwater, as well as human-nature interactions and their application to the conservation of natural and cultural resources.
CIEE Business and Language Summer Program, Barcelona, Spain
The five-week Business and Language program in Barcelona is designed for students who are interested in improving their language skills while taking a class in business, marketing, or economics in either English or Spanish. All language levels are welcome and students with an advanced level of Spanish may take a second business course in Spanish in place of the Spanish language course.
CIEE Advanced Liberal Arts Program, Barcelona, Spain
The CIEE Advanced Liberal Arts program in Barcelona will begin in fall 2005 as a semester or academic year program. The program aims to help students with advanced Spanish language skills (six or more semesters of college-level Spanish required) develop fluency through direct matriculation in a wide range of regular university classes with Spaniards at the Universitat de Barcelona.
CIEE Study Center at Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland
Also beginning in fall 2005, the goal of this semester or academic year program is to introduce students to the breadth and depth of Irish culture while enhancing their academic studies through integrated study at the CIEE Study Center at Dublin City University. The program offers a core course in Irish culture and society, followed by opportunities to study in a variety of disciplines. The program location, combined with the host institution’s expertise, also permits students to intern in a field related to their academic studies.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about these new programs.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season!
