Early Bird registration officially closed on October 1, but you still have time to register! If you have already registered for the conference, we look forward to seeing you in Santa Fe!
Hotel rooms in Santa Fe are filling up quickly. Three of our conference hotels are now at capacity. CIEE has arranged for additional hotel rooms at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, just a short walk from the La Fonda Hotel. Reservations will be accepted at the reduced conference rate of $149/night through Thursday, October 7, 2004. Reservations made after that date will be on a space available basis at the current available rate. When contacting the hotel, be sure to identify yourself as an attendee of the CIEE Conference to receive the reduced rate.

Meet our New Resident Director in Nanjing, China!
CIEE recently appointed a new Resident Director at the Study Center in Nanjing, China, Ms. Shuxia Tang.
In addition to her role as CIEE Resident Director, Shuxia Tang is an Associate Professor of Chinese at the Institute for International Students at Nanjing University. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the area of Applied Linguistics in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Nanjing University. She has taught Chinese to American and European students since 1992 at Nanjing University and spent 1997-1999 as a Visiting Lecturer in the Sinology Department at the Catholic University of Leaven in Belgium. In addition to her international experience in Belgium, Shuxia Tang also brings a unique perspective to her leadership role, having spent her youth in Urumqi, Xinjiang Province, located on the Silk Road trade route.

New GPA Requirements in Australia
CIEE is pleased to announce that we will now accept applications from students with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for our study center programs at Macquarie University in Sydney and La Trobe University in Melbourne. Both schools offer excellent academic subjects, beautiful campuses, and an opportunity to live near Sydney or Melbourne without having to be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
Scholarships Available for Study in China
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded CIEE funding to provide financial assistance to students participating in the CIEE Study Centers at Peking University (Beijing), East China Normal University (Shanghai), Nanjing University (Nanjing), and National Chengchi University (Taipei).
Scholarship applications must be submitted with the program application. Read more about the scholarships and eligibility requirements here and encourage your students to apply for spring 2005.
