New CIEE Website

We are excited to announce that the new CIEE website will launch on Friday, September 10th. The new site has been designed to provide you, the advisor, with direct access to the information you need for advising on CIEE programs and we look forward to hearing your feedback on the new site throughout the fall.

Links to the CIEE Website

Many of you maintain links to a variety of pages on the CIEE website, including application, scholarship, fee, course, and other program information. We have set up a series of redirects on our new website, so that each of these links is redirected to the correct information on the new site. In the event that any of your links point to a piece of information that no longer exists, the user will be asked to use the search function to find what they are looking using for.

Online Applications

With the launch of the new site, your students will be able to begin the application process online to the CIEE Study Centers, allowing for a quicker processing time. Please note that students who enter their application data online will not be considered applicants to a CIEE Study Center, nor will we act on their application, until a printed copy of their application and signed Home School Nomination Form are received by CIEE in Portland.

To apply online, direct your students to www.ciee.org/participant.aspx (link will be active on 9/10/04) and follow the links to the “Apply” page or register for a “My CIEE” account. After setting up an account, applicants will be prompted to enter their personal and academic information (e.g. all information that appears on the Personal Data and Academic Information pages of the CIEE application forms).

Once they have completed the online portion of the application, they will:

1. Submit their online application to us. Their data will be sent to our database where it will sit until we receive the complete paper copy of the application with a signed Home School Nomination Form and all applicable transcripts, evaluations, and other supporting documents.

2. Print out a copy of the pre-populated application form, complete all remaining materials, and take it to their Study Abroad Office for signature on the Home School Nomination Form. The printed version of the application will look just like the forms in the 2005/2006 CIEE Study Center catalogs.

Students who submit their application to us using the new online system and who end up confirming participation in a CIEE Study Center program will be automatically entered into a drawing for a travel voucher. The winner will be announced in December.

If you have any questions, or would like additional information, please contact Molly Donovan, Director of Enrollment and Information Management, at MDonovan@ciee.org.

CIEE Annual Conference

Join CIEE and your colleagues from around the globe November 10-13, 2004 in Santa Fe, New Mexico at CIEE’s 2004 conference, “Closing the Circle, Creating an Enduring International Experience”. Attend sessions such as “Understanding the Bologna Process and Its Implications for U.S. Study Abroad Programs” and “Early and Hopefully Often: Encouraging Students to Study Abroad as Freshmen.” Learn how to help students ensure their study abroad experience has effects that last long beyond the return home.

Don’t forget, if you register by October 1st you’ll secure discounted early bird pricing – a savings of $100 for CIEE and Academic Consortium member and $75 for non-members.

Registrations have been brisk, and the La Fonda Hotel has sold out for the nights of the conference. Rooms are still available at two hotels within a short walking distance of La Fonda. Please contact either hotel to reserve a room and mention the CIEE Annual Conference to receive the reduced conference rate.
