Fall 2004 and Academic Year 2004-05 Study, Work, Teach, and Volunteer
programs. Return the enclosed order form to stock your office

of our website to place an online order.
Note that Spring
2004 CIEE Study Center fees and updated CIEE
Policies & Procedures have been posted to the
CIEE website as of August 1.
New Course Numbers for CIEE Study Centers
One of the most significant changes to the CIEE Study
Center catalogs this year is the introduction of a new course
numbering system, which will allow advisors and students to better
identify course discipline and level for all CIEE courses.
The new course numbers will go into effect beginning
with Spring 2004 programs. A description of the new
numbering system is available on the CIEE website and a comprehensive
course inventory, including current and new course numbers and
titles, will be available on the website as of August 15th.
CIEE Certificate of Achievement in International
Education
In Spring 2003, CIEE introduced the CIEE Certificate of
Achievement in International Education (CAIE) in Wollongong,
Australia and Rennes, France.
Given the success of the Certificate in both Australia
and France this past spring, the CAIE will be offered at an additional
20 CIEE Study Centers beginning Spring 2004. Review a
description of the CAIE, a sample syllabus and a full list of
sites where the Certificate is available.
Register for the CIEE Conference in Budapest,
Hungary!
The 2003 CIEE Conference, Speaking Up: Language Learning
at Home and Abroad, will take place in Budapest, Hungary, November
5-8, 2003. A full conference schedule, including sessions to
be presented and online registration, is now available.
Take advantage of reduced early bird registration rates until
October 3, 2003.
When making plans to attend the Conference, consider
attending an Open
House at one of the CIEE Study Centers in Europe on
Monday or Tuesday, November 3 or 4, or a half-day Pre-Conference
Workshop on Wednesday, November 5.
Jackie Levine of the University of Rochester will
chair the workshop “Learning
Disabilities, ADD, and Study Abroad” and Pamela Houston of
Mobility International USA will chair “No
Problem!: People with Disabilities as Participants in Overseas
Programs. We encourage on-site resident staff, as well as
university administrators, to attend these workshops as they
will discuss a variety of issues especially relevant to this
group.
Spring 2003 CIEE Academic Record Update
Those of you awaiting CIEE Academic Records for Spring
2003 can expect to receive these no later than September 1 for
programs that ended by July 1, 2003. For those programs that
ended after July 1, CIEE Academic Records will be forwarded to
sending schools shortly after September 1. We are notifying all
students who participated on Spring 2003 programs of our planned
processing timeline.
CIEE 24/7
Reaching CIEE staff in the event of an emergency outside
regular business hours has just become easier. Advisors, Students,
and Parents need only dial the standard CIEE phone numbers
(1-800-40-STUDY/207-553-7600) and select option “0” or stay
on the line to be transferred to CIEE 24/7.
