Spring 2009 Application Deadlines
As students begin applying for spring 2009 CIEE Study Center programs, please note the following deadline changes:
The application deadline for both programs at the CIEE Study Center in Prague, Czech Republic has changed to October 1.
The application deadline for the following programs has changed to October 15:
- Amman, Jordan: Arabic Language and Language and Culture
- Dakar, Senegal
- Alcalá de Henares, Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, and Sevilla, Spain: All programs
Competitive Admissions
Beginning with spring 2009, CIEE will move to a competitive review of applications for the programs listed below. Note that all applications will be reviewed following the official application deadline and not on a rolling basis.
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Amman, Jordan: Language and Culture
- Dakar, Senegal
This move to a competitive admissions process was prompted by the immense popularity of these programs and we believe that a competitive admissions process will continue the CIEE tradition of a high-quality academic program at our Study Centers in Senegal, the Czech Republic, and Jordan.

Please note that applications for other programs are reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage students to submit their applications well in advance of the application deadline. Encourage students to apply online and begin the application process today!
Scholarships
Summer and Fall 2008 CIEE Scholarship Recipients Announced
We are pleased to announce that over 25 students will receive CIEE scholarships for summer 2008 programs. These students will attend CIEE Study Centers in locations such as Santiago, Dominican Republic; Siem Reap, Cambodia; Beijing, China; and Stellenbosch, South Africa. Awards were given in the amounts of $500 and $1,000. For a list of recipients, please click here.
CIEE scholarships were awarded to over 50 students for the Fall 2008 semester, who will study in Santiago, Chile; Amman, Jordan; and Shanghai, China among many other Study Centers. Awards range from $500 to $8,000. For a list of recipients, please click here.

Scholarships for CIEE Programs in China
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded CIEE funding under the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program to provide financial assistance to advanced language students who are participating in the Chinese language programs offered by the CIEE Study Centers at Peking University (Beijing), East China Normal University (Shanghai), Nanjing University, and National Chengchi University (Taipei).
