CIEE at the 2005 Annual NAFSA Conference
Come visit us at NASFA! You will find CIEE staff at booth #15, near the entrance to the exhibit hall. Many of our Portland staff will attend the conference and would love to meet with you. Please contact us if you are interested in setting up an appointment with specific staff members.
Remember to drop your business card off at our booth to enter a drawing for a complimentary registration to the CIEE Annual Conference "Taking Part: Experiential Learning in Education Abroad," to be held this November in New Orleans, Louisiana. Winners will be announced Thursday, June 2nd between 2:15pm and 3:00pm at the CIEE-sponsored coffee break in the exhibit hall.

Summer and Fall 2005 CIEE Scholarship Recipients Announced
We are pleased to announce that over 30 students will receive CIEE scholarships for summer 2005 programs. These students will attend CIEE Study Centers in locations such as Santiago, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, China, Transylvania, Hungary and Romania, and Seville, Spain.
Fall 2005 CIEE scholarships were awarded to over 50 students, who will study in Guanajuato, Mexico, Khon Kaen, Thailand, and Ferrara, Italy, among many other Study Centers. For a list of recipients, please click here.

Chinese Language Director Hired for the CIEE Study Center in Shanghai
This summer, Dr. Yanfeng Li will begin his new role as Chinese Language Director of the CIEE Study Center in Shanghai, China. Dr. Li comes to CIEE bringing deep experience in teaching Chinese to U.S. students having taught Chinese at both the University of Hawaii and the University of Pennsylvania for the past 9 years. Dr. Li received his PhD in Chinese Literature from the University of Hawaii in 2005.
Originally from Xian, Dr. Li has a great appreciation for traditional Chinese culture as can be seen in both his academic and personal life. His research interests include traditional Chinese poetry, short stories, and classical Chinese. Dr. Li is also an exceptional erhu (Chinese string instrument) musician and practitioner of Chinese martial arts. He also has expertise in information systems and website development from projects he has worked on in the past including the development of a bilingual database and computerized dictionary.
