Scholarships for CIEE Programs in China
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded CIEE funding under the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program to provide financial assistance to students who are participating in the Chinese language programs offered by the CIEE Study Centers at Peking University (Beijing), East China Normal University (Shanghai), Nanjing University, and National Chengchi University (Taipei).
If you have student interested in studying abroad at one of the above locations, please encourage them to apply for this scholarship. Eligibility requirements are available here.
CIEE Study Center in Madrid, Spain
Many of you are undoubtedly advising students on study abroad locations throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Madrid is an ideal location for advanced Spanish language students to spend a semester or year further improving their language skills and becoming truly integrated into Spanish university life.
The CIEE Study Center in Madrid is based at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Carlos III), one of Europe’s pre-eminent public universities. Established in 1989, the University enrolls approximately 4,000 undergraduate students at the Getafe campus in Madrid.
At the CIEE Study Center in Madrid, students take at least one advanced Spanish language course and three content courses with other international students. Students may also directly enroll alongside Spanish peers in the social sciences, humanities, and engineering faculties of Carlos III. If you have students interested in journalism, sociology, or political science, with an overall GPA of 3.0 and 5 semesters of Spanish, this is an ideal program for them. Those with solid, bilingual writing skills may also take part in a CIEE-designed internship for credit, which will expose them to the realities of contemporary Madrid.

CIEE Student Recognition Award
The CIEE Student Recognition Award acknowledges an exemplary student, or students, who studied at a CIEE Study Center during the previous academic year. At the CIEE Annual Conference in Seville, Spain the award was presented Deren Eaton who studied at the CIEE Study Center in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Deren overcame tremendous obstacles while on the program and excelled as a student and as a person because of his choice to meet those challenges head-on. Have you always wanted to visit Brazil? Are you interested in learning more about the CIEE Study Centers in Salvador da Bahia and São Paulo? You’re in luck!
