Summer 2004 CIEE Study Centers
This summer CIEE will offer your students the opportunity to study abroad in 13 countries. These short-term programs are often the perfect solution for a student who cannot commit to being away from their home campus for a semester or academic year. They can study anything from architecture in Turkey to completing a business internship in Hong Kong to learning about Paris through contemporary literature. Please click here to search for a complete list of our summer offerings.

Summer 2004 Program Dates are now available on our website here.

The application deadline for summer 2004 applications is March 15 for China, Russia, Thailand and the Hong Kong and Seville internships. All other applications are due April 1.

International Faculty Development Seminars
We have received many early applications for the CIEE summer 2004 faculty programs and are accepting applications until the deadline of March 15. However, some programs are filling up quickly so apply early in order to secure the seminar of your choice.

New seminars this year include programs in Chile & Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Germany, India and Spain. These seminars, designed specifically for university-level faculty and administrators, are intensive educational experiences designed to open eyes to global issues facing the world today. For more information, including a complete list of seminars and dates, and an application, visit our website here.

New! CIEE Conservation Australia
CIEE has recently introduced a new volunteer program to supplement the summer International Volunteer Projects. The CIEE Conservation Australia Program offers students the opportunity to contribute in a practical way to the conservation of the Australian environment. Projects take place throughout Australia in urban, regional, and remote destinations and students may select from 2-week, 4-week, or 6-week programs year-round. For more information, please click here.

Student Support in Alcalá
This semester at the CIEE Study Center in Alcalá a “Grupo de estudiantes de apoyo,” or peer support group, was formed. Two CIEE participants are linked with one Spanish university student who guides them through the library system, computer rooms and makes introductions to other Spanish students. They also work together on a cultural assignment with a prepared list of questions regarding social values, dating, etc. where they discuss points of view.

Peer students also provide practical advice on student life throughout the semester, and some act as individual tutors, supervised by the Resident Director, for CIEE students who request adjustment assistance for the regular university courses.

CIEE Annual Conference
Propose a Session for Santa Fe 2004
Be on the lookout for the Request for Proposals for the CIEE Annual Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which will take place November 10-13, 2004.

Propose a session related to this year’s conference theme, “Closing the Circle: Creating an Enduring International Experience”, and address such issues as continuing the student’s international experience once home, alumni networks, re-entry programming. Download the full Request for Proposals here.
