CIEE Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana
Don’t forget, your session proposal for the CIEE Annual Conference this November is due February 1st! This year’s theme is Taking Part: Experiential Learning in Education Abroad. Consider a session on advising for work or volunteer programs, how to encourage students to be civic-minded, or how to evaluate and quantify one’s experience.
The CIEE Annual Conference is an excellent way to meet colleagues and leaders in the field of international education. Enhance your experience by being a presenter, not just an attendee. E-mail your proposal to conference2005@ciee.org today!

Support the Creation of a Latin America SIG
Christine Wintersteen, CIEE Program Director for Latin America, has been working with other interested professionals in the field to create a NAFSA Special Interest Group (SIG) focused on Latin America. A proposal must be sent to NAFSA indicating support from 1% of NAFSA membership. Please visit our website at http://www.ciee.org/nafsa/latin_america_sig.aspx to read a 1-page overview of the proposal, including its goals, and to submit an electronic signature of support.
How Are We Doing?
By now you have probably received a “food for thought” piece from CIEE entitled “How Are We Doing?” This article addresses topics surrounding student goals, community engagement while abroad, programming (pre-departure, onsite, and return), and re-thinking policies on grades and grading. To read the article or download the pdf, please click here.
The second article in the series, “Standards,” will be mailed in mid-February. If you need additional copies or have comments, we’d love to hear from you at editor@ciee.org. Text and pdf versions of the articles will be posted to our website.
