In many ways, Russia-U.S. relations significantly contribute to, and even shape, the political and economic landscape of the world. During this seminar, we’ll examine this relationship in depth, as well as its effects on post-Soviet Eurasia and Pacific Asia, with special emphasis placed on the countries’ trade relations one year after Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization. Additionally, we’ll explore topics that include linking and decoupling the interests of Russia and the U.S. and Russia’s policy on Pacific Asia and its compatibility with the U.S. position.

Lectures by professors from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, practitioners’ briefings, and dynamic discussions will facilitate participants’ understanding of the mechanisms underlying modern Russia-U.S. relations. Literature and research materials will also be made available to participants throughout the program.

During this seminar, participants will:

  • Acquire a broader understanding of Russia’s current perception of the key aspects of its relationships with the United States.
  • Explore, analyze, and debate the geopolitical implications of Russia-U.S. relations on the future of the former Soviet space and on Pacific Asia.
  • Analyze Russia-U.S. relations from the perspectives of trade and Russia’s WTO membership.
