Terms & Conditions
Eligibility
IFDS participants should be active or retired faculty and/or administrators at two- or four-year institutions of higher education. In order to facilitate an interdisciplinary exploration of seminar themes, applicants from all academic concentrations are encouraged to apply. Participants do not need to be experts on the seminar topic or region. Applications from education professionals and independent scholars at other levels or types of institutions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Spouse / Family Attendance
CIEE does not allow non-participating spouses and/or family members on the seminars or to accompany participants on the itinerary. The academic content of CIEE International Faculty Development Seminars is designed for faculty and administrators only and is intended to promote networking opportunities with U.S. colleagues as well as overseas academics. Spouses who are faculty members and meet the requirements of participation are encouraged to apply.
Seminar Cancellation
All seminars are based on group arrangements involving a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number (which varies according to seminar) is not reached, the seminar may be cancelled. In the event that a seminar is cancelled (due to low enrollment or any other reason), CIEE refunds all payments received and has no further liability to the participant. Please note that under no circumstances is CIEE responsible for any flight cancellation or flight change charges incurred.
Withdrawal and Refund Policy
If you withdraw from a seminar for which you have confirmed your participation, you must notify CIEE in writing. Cancellations are effective only upon the date of receipt of written notification. If written notification of withdrawal is received by CIEE 44 to 30 days prior to the seminar start date, you are held responsible for 25% of the program fee. If written notification of withdrawal is received by CIEE 29 to 14 days prior to the seminar start date, you are held responsible for 50% of the program fee. If CIEE receives written notification of withdrawal 13 days or less prior to the seminar start date (or in the case of no-shows), you are held responsible for 100% of the program fee.
No partial refunds are given for unused meals, hotel rooms, airport transfers, or other program activities, for any reason whatsoever. Dates and fees referred to in this Withdrawal and Refund Policy correspond to those provided in the IFDS acceptance materials. Any previously published dates and fees are not applicable in the administration of this policy.
Seminar Fee Exclusions
Participants are responsible for the following associated costs: passport, port of entry visa fees (if applicable), visas that exceed standard group processing rates, international departure taxes, international airfare, ground transportation beyond the one organized airport pick-up and one drop-off, most dinners, baggage charges, porterage, tips, and any incidental expenses.
