Kiss the Blarney Stone for the gift of eloquence and Irish charm. There are many stories about the Blarney Stone's origin, but you'll have even more stories to tell after you attend an Irish high school and live with a host family in and around the colorful city of Cork.

living with a host family

Host families are responsible for providing a safe environment and accepting the host student as a member of their family. Our partner organization will visit, screen, and interview all families who wish to open their homes to CIEE students. While our Irish host families are paid, they offer to host students because of their interest in learning about new cultures and wish to build a relationship with their host “son” or “daughter”. CIEE defines hosts as single parents, couples with or without children, or retired persons, without restriction as to race, color, religion, economic status, or geographical location. We ask that you be open minded about your host family placement, and when filling out your application, supply us with as much information about yourself as possible to ensure that we are equipped with the information we need. We trust our partners abroad to match you to your host family. Only in exceptional situations will host family placements be changed prior to departure.
