ciee support
Our partner organization in Brazil will be responsible for carefully selecting and screening their volunteer host families while placing students in either a public or private Brazilian high school. Each student will be matched with an appointed local coordinator. These local coordinators are available to provide complete supervision and support throughout the student's stay in Brazil.
orientation
Orientation will take place in Boston one day before departure. They consist of a comprehensive program including important topics such as an introduction to your host country, health and safety, tips on how to adjust to a new culture and language, the academic program, and getting to know other high school students going to the same country. The rest of the time is spent on sightseeing in the area, restaurants and evening activities. Students will be met at the airport and housed in hotels with other participants. CIEE staff will stay in the hotel with the students and will accompany them to their overseas check-in. Representatives from our partner organization will meet our students when they arrive in Brazil to help with the transfer to their final destination for a local orientation.
placements
Our partner organization will select and screen their volunteer host families. Students will be placed in urban areas, primarily in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Goias, Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Amazonas, Espirito Santo and the Federal District of Brasilia. While students may express interest to live in a particular city, it is up to the assigned partner to make the appropriate placement for the student based on the application.

Optional trips to the Amazon and Lencois Maranharses are available at an additional cost.
