High School Abroad brings students, families, schools, and communities together in a life changing experience of study abroad and cultural exchange. You'll live with a host family as their own son or daughter, attend high school, participate in family traditions, get involved through your personal interests, and experience life in a totally new and different environment. High School Abroad programs are available for a semester or for the full academic year. If you don't have the flexibility to study abroad during the semester or academic year, consider Summer Abroad.
We offer high school programs in Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, and Spain. Whether your hope is to study abroad for a semester or for a full academic year, you will have the opportunity to:
- Enroll in a local (public or private, as available) high school
- Live with a host family
- Attend a pre-departure orientation and onsite orientation upon arrival
- Stay covered during your stay by international medical insurance and 24 hour worldwide assistance provided through the CIEE iNext international travel insurance
- Leave home confident of the supervision and support you will receive throughout your stay, including 24 hour in-country emergency support
- Travel internationally with a group of fellow students from the gateway departure city to your orientation location
