Seville Yearlong Students go to Salamanca
The yearlong Gap students went on a long weekend excursion to Salamanca in March 2009, organized by CIEE Study Abroad office in Seville for all the academic year participants. During our first night we joined the Salmantinos on a stroll around the city. The city was swarming with people, enjoying the cool spring night. We ended this moonlight tour in the stunning illuminated Plaza Mayor. The students were in awe with this plaza.
Saturday morning was spent visiting the new and old Renaissance Cathedral. After, the students had the chance to visit the city´s well- known monument La Casa de las Conchas, the morning finished with a guided tour of the University of Salamanca. During the evening, there was an optional tour of a Renaissance closed order convent. In this visit we had the opportunity to buy homemade sweets made by the nuns, followed by a free afternoon and then tapas for dinner in the city.
Sunday was our last day of our field trip, the morning was spent visiting a convent of the 16th century and a romantic garden. This garden is mentioned in the play of Celestina as the scene where Calixto meet Melibea.
