CIEE support

The CIEE Study Center in Paris is responsible for the supervision and support of CIEE participants throughout the duration of their stay. The Gap Program coordinator at the study center will remain in regular contact throughout the semester/year in order to check in on your language progress and to make sure that the homestay and the teaching placement continues to go well. The office selects, screens, and interviews all host families and will place students in a family that best matches the student profile.

CIEE orientation

Orientation will take place upon your arrival in Paris. The orientation program consists of information on important topics such as an introduction to your host city and country, getting to know your host family, volunteer opportunities, health and safety, tips on how to adjust to a new culture and language, the academic program, and getting to know other students going to the same country. Students will be met at the airport upon their arrival by CIEE Paris Study Center staff, which will also assist in the final transfer to the host family.

CIEE excursions

To familiarize students with local culture and the areas surrounding Paris, group activities such as field trips, city walks, museum visits will be offered to Gap students. In addition to outings within Paris, there is a weekend trip; past destinations have included places such as the Loire Valley, Burgundy, Normandy, or Alsace. Day trips to sites such as Chartres and its cathedral, the chateau and gardens of Vaux-le-Vicomte, or Reims, are also organized. Host families can also be a wonderful resource of regional interest s and cultural information.
