Hola!
I am thrilled to be spending this year abroad, and I cannot wait to share it with you.
I grew up in Corvallis Oregon, and graduated from Crescent Valley high school in June. In high school I participated in Ski Racing team, Cross country running, Concert Choir, and Horse 4-H. After having the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica my sophomore year, I fell in love with Spanish. Since then, I knew that I wanted to study abroad
after high school.
I have always been fascinated with Chile. Really, it is like its own mini version of the world. Chile has everything; mountains, the desert, beaches, the big city, and ice. I cannot think of any other country more diverse than Chile. There is also such a wealth of culture, there is the German influence, European Culture, Hueso traditions, and tribal cultures. I have always thought that I could learn so much from the diverse and unique culture that it offers. Besides the interesting cultural aspects of Chile, it is also an adventurers paradise. I love outdoor activities, and when I am there I hope to be able to go hikeing, skiing, and maybe try some surfing. For the last six months as I have been preparing for my year abroad, I have read so many books about Chile, and looked at so many pictures. Every time I see a picture of Chile, I am blown away by its beauty and I cannot believe that I will really be living there.
The opportunity to live in Spain is so neat. I am a big history nerd, so I am very excited about all of the history that Spain has to offer. Spain is the birthplace of Spanish, and I feel that living in Spain will allow me to truly understand the Spanish language. Like Chile, Spain is an extremely geographically and culturally diverse country. I feel lucky to be able to experience Spain and its culture. Besides being a hub for history, Spain has many unique customs. I am so excited to try Flamenco dancing, experience la Semana Santa, and try Spanish food.
I feel so lucky that I have the opportunity to study abroad and live in these two spectacular countries.

¿Que tal? Raised in a small, southwestern border town, I am now in Seville, Spain. I grew up surrounded by Spanish, however never immersed... until now. Life as I know it has changed drastically, but only for the better. Spanish comes easier with each passing day. My adventures here have opened the world to me. The only question that remains now, is where to begin?
