As a way to stay involved and encourage others to do the same, CIEE offers former program participants the opportunity to become Alumni Ambassadors.
what is the alumni ambassador program?
Being an Alumni Ambassador means sharing your experience with others in your community. It is a great way to keep the exchange going, and a productive way to educate your peers and teachers about the country you visited. Plus, you get paid for it!
how do I get involved?
There are many ways for Alumni Ambassadors to participate. We have offered a few suggestions below, however, when it comes to sharing your study abroad experience, the sky's the limit! Just remember to make it personal. Bring your photos, stories, and be honest about your experience and what it takes to be an exchange student.
- class presentation
Arrange a time to do a 15-minute presentation to your language class. Bring pictures, stories, and a few brochures along to teach other students about your exchange experience. - throw a themed party - on CIEE!
Throw a themed get-together for students from your school. Serve tapas, nachos or "shrimp on the barby" (whatever suits your experience best) at an after-school gathering or language club meeting. Send us the receipts for the snacks and we'll even reimburse you (up to $20)! - represent CIEE at a cultural fair
Many schools and community groups sponsor cultural fairs. We'll send you materials to set up a table and talk to interested students about your experience abroad.
where do i get materials?
Contact CIEE to request brochures, posters and country specific sheets. Remember, we have both summer and academic programs in several different countries. We'll send you what you need for your Alumni Ambassador Program. Call us at 800.448.9944 and ask for Outbound Programs.
your reward
Alumni Ambassadors who complete a project should contact CIEE before or soon after their project to confirm your involvement. You will receive a $25 reward for your efforts, AND if any of the students you speak to travels on a CIEE exchange program, you will receive a $100 referral reward for each student!
Be sure to tell us in your email:
- Your Name
- The program/country you participated in
- Year you participated in a CIEE program
- Detail about what you did for your Alumni Ambassador project
- How many students attended your project and if any gave you their contact details for CIEE to follow up with (please provide email addresses)
- Confirm the address you would like your check sent to
