Insurance

The CIEE Insurance Department has sent and will continue to send a letter to each assigned host family regarding the CIEE Insurance policy. The letter includes information about the policy, website information, claim procedures, contact information for insurance issues, an insurance ID card and a list of 3 doctors and 1 hospital that work with Aetna within a 50 mile radius of their address. This letter goes to all participants with the CIEE Insurance and will be sent anytime a student is moved to a new host family as long as CIEE Portland High School Department is notified of the move.

In addition to the insurance letter being sent to all host families of CIEE Insurance holders, we have also added the insurance information onto the students High School Identification cards.

Please note: The HS Identification number is different from the Insurance Policy/Member ID number.

Sports Physicals

Some schools require a physical examination done in their State in order to play sports. Insurance will not pay for the physical. It is worth speaking to your school or doctor's office for reduced rates as this charge comes out of the student's spending money.

Baggage and Valuables

Your CIEE policy has some non medical benefits for you. These are designed for thefts or if an airline, bus, or train loses your luggage.

It does not cover: Any loss, theft or damage to mobile telephones or other personal communication devices, MP3 players, IPods, portable DVD players or similar personal electronic devices.

Please take extra precautions to keep your valuables safe and secured. For more information on your insurance plan coverage and exclusions please visit the website at www.ciee.org/insurance and click on the additional benefits link to view the baggage and valuables section of your policy.

If you need additional assistance or have questions please contact the insurance department at CIEE by calling 1-888-268-6245 or by emailing insurance@ciee.org. We are here to help you with your medical and insurance needs!
