Who can host?

CIEE's host families are as different as its students and can be with or without children as well as single adults. But one thing that unites all of them is a strong sense for the importance of cross-cultural understanding in today's world. They are curious, open-minded, loving and willing to help a young student to adjust in a new environment.
What do Host Families need to do?
- Welcome a student into your home as a family member
- Provide the student with a single bed, either sharing the room with a child of the same gender and approximate age, or having a single bedroom. A quiet place for study must also be available.
- Provide meals with the exception of lunches on school days.
- Provide your student with necessary transportation or assisting in arranging alternate transportation i.e. a bike, car pool, etc. to and from school
- CIEE's students will have their own spending money for the duration of their stay as well as medical insurance. Please read more about our students here.
“My host sister is one of my best friends; we e-mail practically every week. I'll never forget my stay in Minnesota.“
