Information on Exchange Students Traveling

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The trip will have to be approved by the student's natural family and host family
  • Support staff need be informed in order to contact the agent for a permission letter from the natural family
  • Students are not allowed to travel by themselves, only when there is an adult traveling with them or waiting for them at another airport
  • It is strongly recommended that the student should not travel anywhere until January (for 10-month students) and none at all for (6-month students)

A few things you have to do in order to travel outside the country

  • Please send in your DS2019 to our Boston office. You will not be able to re-enter into the U.S. without the signed form.
  • Please check with the nearby Embassy or Consulate of the country you are traveling to and check whether you will need a tourist visa or not. If you need one, you will have to contact the Embassy directly in order to obtain the visa prior to your trip. (Keep in mind that it can take up to a month to obtain a visa in some countries, so make sure you contact them with enough time)
  • Please send in your itinerary so that we have a copy of it in case of the emergency; also please leave a copy of the contact address and trip itinerary with your local coordinator and your host family.
